Vivekananda Sangathan

Vivekananda Sangathan presents the work of the organization as a social, educational, cultural, and sports institution. Visitors can understand the mission, see activities, check notifications, view media, and contact the team.In 1955, under the leadership of Shanti Ghosh (Das)—the fiery daughter of the Agnijoog era, who, in 1931, assassinated Mr. Stevens, the District Magistrate of Comilla—the Vivekananda Sangathan was founded. In 1958, under the presidentship of Shanti Das, the organization was registered under the Society Act. As a non-political organization, Vivekananda Sangathan has always been committed to shaping the sports and cultural landscape of the Kalyani subdivision. In this refugee-dominated region, the organization has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life of the people. It previously operated a crèche center and a free coaching center. At present, it works year-round for underprivileged and meritorious students—distributing educational materials and helping them become self-reliant through computer training programs. To encourage children to read and to provide unemployed job-seeking youth with a space to practice, the organization has established the Nivedita Library. For the mental and physical development of children affected by mobile addiction, it has founded the Vivekananda Sports Academy. Football, athletics, chess, yoga, karate, and cricket are taught here by trained and experienced coaches. Students of our academy have begun achieving distinctions at both the state and national levels. Throughout the year, the organization makes relentless efforts to inspire social awareness and national consciousness among the people of this region through blood-donation camps, tree-plantation and distribution programs, and the observance of various national days. To spread the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and cultivate a healthy cultural mindset, the organization annually hosts the largest Vivekananda Festival in the Gayeshpur municipal area. People of all classes, irrespective of religion or caste, participate in this festival. Discourses by revered Swamijis from Belur Math and the Ramakrishna Mission, inter-school quiz competitions, sit-and-draw competitions, alpana competitions, student essay and debate contests, Nara-Narayan Seva, and wholesome cultural programs are organized. This festival has now entered its 71st year. This time, to encourage children to develop a love for books, the first Gayeshpur Book Fair is being launched.
